Indigenous American Studies
Indigenous American Studies (also known as American Indian, Native American, Aboriginal, Native, or First Nations Studies) is an interdisciplinary academic field that examines the history, culture, politics, issues, spirituality, sociology and contemporary experience of Indigenous peoples in North America, or, taking a hemispheric approach, the Americas.
This reading list aims to provide a starting place for exploring the histories and diverse experiences of Indigenous peoples. It is by no means exhaustive, but it includes works that explore pre-Columbian history, European contact, treaties, sovereignty, cultural practices, and the ongoing struggles for rights and recognition.
